Edinburgh - August 6,7,8
After York, I hopped on the train and made the journey to Edinburgh.  This town is nuts right now and if you ever come here, come in August.  Everyone is here, Indigo Girls, Counting Crows, Greg Proups and Scott Capuro (remember Alex Bennet on the Quake?) You could see 10 shows a day for a month and only take in 1/3 of all of the comedy, art, dance and theatre going on.
From the train from York to Edinburgh. I mean seriously, this countryside is amazing. The first day in Edinburgh I did the tourist thing and went up the Royal Mile (named because the old castle and the new one bookend the street) and saw the Edinburgh castle.  This is how you would see it if you were fighting the English.  During the month of August they build an 8000 person stadium in the entry way to hold the "Tattoo" which is all of the bagpipe players in the world coming to play together with military precision.  Book early, I couldn't get in even with some sweet talking.
This is how the English, the peasants and anyone not in the castle saw the castle.
Ahhh tourists, little do these folks know that right around the corner there is another entrance with no line.  Thanks for the tip Rick!
This guy hung out at the castle and said he got chicks.  Come on, give me a break, not with that hair.
Babs, if you or Bernie were in the service, he could be buried here. The sign says "Cemetary for soldiers dogs." The Scots love their dogs.
I think they called this cannon Moors mog.  The king received it as a present from his brother to defend the castle from the English.  It could launch those 300 pound balls over 2 miles but was mostly used to tame the peasants.  I wonder how far it could launch that dude with the backpack...1/2 mile?  Just kidding.
Mel Gibson...Ehrr Sir William Wallace protecting the entrance to the castle.  What was his famous line Morty?
